Seton Health Services Foundation and Seton Medical Center do not directly solicit patients for fundraising as stated in the Chronicle article on May 27, 2008.
As of May 2007 Seton Health Services Foundation stopped accessing patient names and addresses for direct mail campaigns.
Previously we used names and addresses, but never diagnoses, for our mailings. We have never solicited funds from patients based on their specific diagnoses per HIPPA.
We are grateful for unsolicited gifts from patients. As a not for profit that provides charity care for the poor and needy we raise funds through events and mailings to our loyal donors and rely on contributions from community members, foundations and corporations.
